The download essentially consists of a driver that tells your computer that you have two or more separate webcams working. This allows you to send a single video feed to up to 64 different clients. You might want to connect with your friends, family and colleagues who are using several different video messaging services, and SplitCam makes that possible, but it doesn't necessarily make it easy.

Setup can take a long time, especially if you don't have much experience with video drivers. To make things easier, make sure that you don't have any video applications running as you install and setup SplitCam. You should also restart your computer after installation.

Once you get everything up and running, you might have trouble keeping track of different messaging services and feeds. Windows 7 allows you to automatically align your windows to the side of your screen, which can make it easier to chat with a few people simultaneously, but if you're sending your video to more than two people, you might find it difficult to stay organized. Many video services operate at different speeds, so you might experience some troublesome lag. SplitCam's programmers can't do anything about that, though, so it seems unfair to charge them with this bug.

Overall, SplitCam has its issues, but it's one of the only programs of its kind. If you need a way to use a single video feed with several different applications, this is the application for you.
